WTB/LF: Tires (novice)
Like the title says, looking for a set of tires (barely used at least) I know my size is 215/45/17.
My mechanic is cutting my throat with his prices on em. Don't need anything technical, just something grippy/safe for my girlfriend to get around in.
Thanks for your time guys.

Never heard of that tire. Didn't realize that Federal had a tire like that. They look pretty good too. TRACK TESTED: Federal 595RS-R - NASIOC
I wish they had more 16" options though.

I'm running the regular SS595's and like them just fine. Cheap, seem to handle well, cheap, no bad habits, did I mention cheap? I got them through leaf racing, but I don't know if they're around still.
Regular SS595s are budget summers that drive like it. If you are a point A to be driver they are fine though. The RSRs are an inexpensive street legal track tire that handles almost on par with tires costing 50% again what they do. They usually get pitted up against RS-3s and Star Specs in comparisons.

2. i said cheaper, as in costs less. yea per tire the federals are cheaper but try to order a set and you'll see they want $271 for shipping vs tire racks $148. overall the RS3 is a better buy and as i've run them personally i can say you won't be disapointed.
nice try though
1. I would NEVER recommend a tire to someone looking for daily driver tires in which the manufacturer clearly says that they are not intended for road or freeway use. just seems counter productive.

if you can find a site that will sell them for $120 shipped a tire please post it. that would be a really good price for a 140 rated street tire and i'm sure a lot of guys would want to try them out. i don't doubt that the federals are good tires and probably fine for everyday use however if federal says they are not intended for road or freeway use and having not tired them i'd be skeptical.
It's not so much that people don't know about them, it's that only a few places carry them and they always sell out of them. It can be hard to get ahold of a set. There are a boatload of reviews online if you're interested.
