^^^ i think he's pretty correct, and on top of that, i think only 2000 and 2001 came with RS sedans. which makes them SOHC if i'm not mistaken. Well, I only know 3 5-speed sedans out there on this island.

Actually, here's the additional, correct info (not to say the previous posters were wrong):
1998 RS
Only ones with the DOHC engine
Only came in 2-dr body style
Front bumper, gauges and seat cloth/ interior fabric are different than 1999-2001
Only came with gold 5-spoke rims
1999-2000 RS
Came with the SOHC engine
White-faced gauges, different seat cloth
Only came with silver 5-spoke rims
2000 was the first year with the 4-dr
2001 RS
Same engine, interior and gauges as 1999- 2000
Only came with silver 6- spoke rims
2-dr and 4-dr body stlye

I know there is one selling from AutoSource, but I believe it is a 2-dr and they are asking near $11K

i guess i need to do more research, lol
I guess i'm just looking for a 4 door. It doesn't really matter what engine or tranny i guess, i was thinking about swapping in a ej20 or a ej25t and trans.

If I were you, I'd just look for a 1998- 2001 Impreza L. Although they have the 2.2L motor, they generally have the same interior as the RS, and at least in those years you are guaranteed to get a car with AWD.

Joey, the '00 also came with the 6 spokes. The 5 spokes only came on the '98 Gold, and the '99 Silver. I have the '98. A few other differences can be found here: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=677570. StreetRacerMTB my car is for sale, but you would have to ship it.
