Jdm Gc8 Vs. Usa Gc8?
Hi. I'm new here. I'm planning to buy a Impreza GC8 2Dr Coupe, and I need some info on GC8. Can anyone post a chart or something that compares JDM GC8 with USA GC8? I really don't know which USA GC8 model is equivalent to which JDM GC8 model. My friend told me that there's no STi or WRX version GC8 in the USA,and even the engine is different(SOHC?/No Turbo). Are these correct? Well,I really appreciate if someone can give me a chart that compares JDM model GC8 with USA model GC8. Thanks for all your help

I don't have any charts for you but I can tell u that we don't get any WRX or STI the top model we get is the 2.5RS witch is a 2.5 non turbo with 165hp I think. JDM impreza's top model is the WRX witch is a 2.0 liter turbo 280hp I think. the 2.5RS started in 98 and in 98 they came in DOHC and switch to SOHC in 99 and up.

Correct, there are no USDM WRX or STI Imprezas until the 2002 model year with the new redesign, which is only the WRX, and our first STI is coming out in a couple months.
Between 93 and 95 there were only L model Imprezas in wagon, coupe and sedan form with only the 1.8l engine and 2.2l engine as an option. AWD was also an option until 96, when I think the outback sports were introduced. 98 was the first model year for the RS and the first time the 2.5l engine went into the Impreza line. The RS changed dramatically in 99 to a SOHC engine and different colors, interior and bumper, and only changed little more in 2000 and 2001. 97 was the last year for the 1.8l engine as inbetween 98-01 you can only find the 2.2l engine in non RS model imprezas.
There really are no compairable models between the USDM and JDM markets.
