Talking Wheel Offset Clarification...

I have a question fellow I-Clubbers? I am thinking about upgrading my stock wheels to Prodrive P1 rims. But I am a little sketchy because the offset for the rims is 50mm. So its gonna stick out alittle right?(Positive offset), since our offset is 48mm or am I wrong. Didnt care about slapping on rims before but now want to get real technical. Did my research but none stated whether going from 48mm to 50mm is a Positive or Negative Offset. All I know is its not Zero offset!!lol

Also, is there fellow i-clubbers out there who are sporting rims that are not running exact offsets? Please let me know your trials and tribulation with offsets other than 48mm.

with much appreciation,

A +50 offset wheel will sit a little more towards the inside of the fender well. As compared to a +40 which would sit more towards the outside of the fender well.

What kind of car do you have? Is it a GD? GC? If you have a GC (93-01) body, then the 50mm offset is perfect. If you have a GD (02-04), that offset should be ok as well, just depending on your brake set up.

i found this on another wrx forums. i hope this helps...

Proper Subaru WRX/LGT/STi/FXT offsets....

it was also said if the offsets where close to this list it would work fine.

EXAMPLE: 17x7.5 w/ a 51mm offset would be fine, a 17x7.5 with a 55mm offset would not.

Note: offset is only a variable of width not height

QUOTE
Width ...... Offset

6.5" ....... +53 to +55
7.0" ....... +50 to +53
7.5" ....... +47 to +50
8.0" ....... +43 to +47
