Question What do these symptoms indicate?

I picking my car up from the shipping company on monday and since then I've been noticing some strange sounds I've never heard before. They are hard to describe but hopefully you guys can help. The noises all seem to be coming from the rear wheels/suspension area. They can be heard very clearly with the windows up and the radio off. Whenever the car is rolling the sound has the repetition like the thump....thump....thump of a flat spot on a tire. But it sounds more metallic, more metal on metal. The repetition frequency increases with speed.

The other symptom is a noise I hear only when changing lanes to the left on the freeway. Its still sort of metallic but is a more hollow, constant sound. It only occurs when going left, not right.

Other than these mysterious sounds the car drives and handles fine, I cant tell anything is wrong. But I'm paranoid and I know these noises indicate something has failed or is about to fail and I need to find out what it is.

Any help would be much appreciated guys. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this is the fact that I was unknowingly driving on only 20 psi in each tire for almost 500 miles. After I realized that I topped the pressures back up to 37 front 35 rear. And the noises are still there

-Chad.

it sounds like you have a nail in your tire. have it checked. i was driving from dole cannery one night and i started hearing clinks about every revolution cycle, i stopped but i didn't check enough. sure enough the next day, flat tire. when the nail is in, chances are it will not deflate, but once its out, who knows how fast it will deflate. i have had 2 tire punctures on these RE92's due to nails. never have i had so much tire problems. RE92's.

check the rear discs for big rust spots. If the car sat awhile it's possible you had some rust form.
Also, apply a little bit of parking brake while rolling and see if that changes the sound. The parking brake is a drum and may have rusted pretty bad while sitting too.
