what are the symptoms of a stuck wastegate?

my 91 ss turbo boost only goes up to 3psi (wastegate pressure is 9psi). what are the symptoms of a stuck wastegate? could also be leaks at the intercooler piping....

car runs fine, just doesn't boost.

thanks in advance.

I've seen this happen with cracked piping/inlets etc.

A stuck wastegate would have the opposite affect, and you would have more boost than you wanted, cause the wastetgate would not open up getting rid of some of that exhaust gas spinning the turbine wheel.

not if it was stuck open.

if you had cracks in your piping, your car would run like **** as you are leaking metered air.

you can put pressure to the WG and see/watch if the arm moves with 9psi

if its not making boost then the WG will be stuck wide open and diverting the exhaust away from the turbine.
I would put pressure to the WG and see if the arm moves @ 9psi

exactly, so easy check, see if either the wastegate control arm is even attached before doing any of this, then take the dp off and see it maybe it is just stuck open, and then apply pressure to it via a air hose.
