Anyone know of some good places to go in or near Waikiki for inspection?

Overfenders are fender extensions that go over the wheel wells. Check the attached photo.
Also, you might get tagged on your tints depending on where you go. Being new to the island, nobody's gonna wanna "hook you up" or "help you out" unless you were referred by a familiar client. Remember, letter of the law is 35% with up to 6% variance, so you could technically say 29% is the limit. Just be careful.

Try running a search here in HIIC for "body shop", there have been a few threads regarding good shops recently. If you have any further questions, you can always ask it on one of those threads.

Waikiki?! Danger...Danger......Rookies right out from the police academy patrol Waikiki. And they wait on the side of the road, ticket books in hand. They will pull over and ticket you if you drive a modded import. Everyone that has a modded import in Oahu knows that driving through or near waikiki is "taboo". I worked in waikiki for over 5 years, I've seen alot of tuners get screwed over.

As for inspection, most of the "cool" shops that will let you pass safety with 20% tint are in the Kalihi area. The only shop I know near Waikiki that does safety checks are Jiffy Lube on university ave.

Where in Waikiki are you? I've been down there a lot lately. We should try to get together.

Depending on what part of Waikiki there aren't as many officers. I used live in Waikiki for 3 years, right on Hobron Lane, I considered that the fringe of Waikiki. There weren't that many there, but there would be nights where nights where they would sit at the intersection right at my building at ticket for traffic violations. I got recon, and it made easier for me to get home. I would drive past them, and id' check my rear view and see their flashlights move towards my bumper to check for the sticker.

I watched as G35 (lowered, rims and exhaust) as he passed slowly by the officers, as he passed them they moved their flashlights to the rear bumper. No recon sticker, the officer then radioed the others at the other side of the intersection and he was pulled over.

I wonder if one very well known officer is still there in Waikiki, I am sure every Hawaii tuner car driver knows who I am talking about, officer Hunt.

Ala Moana Sears is another nearby place to get safety check. It's busy there though, so it can be a bit time consuming, but at least you can go to Satellite City Hall right after to get any needed paperwork done. Plus you can shop while waiting haha.

Also, you might want to avoid Chinatown at night if you drive a modded import.
