(shhh dont tell my wife i want to break it so i can go sti 6 speed)

honestly i would like the trans to last for awhile but i do like to "drive" the car and understand the 02-03 5 speed is a bit weak. i plan to eventually go to the sti 6 speed cause the gears are stronger and its just sexy lol. my bigger concern is the limits of the stock engine. i havent heard of hardly any cases of blown 2.0's so i dont really have a good idea of where the power/reliablility limit is. same goes with the driveshafts.

Running GT35 on stock clutch. No issues yet although I have yet to really launch the car off the light. Never had and slippage even when banging through the gears (but like I said no hard launches yet.)

First, the VF-34 with 565 injectors is as large as I would go unless you're running water/meth/alch injection. The pump is a must IMHO. Some would argue you can mod the stock injectors, but the spray pattern is less than optimal. Second, your horsepower goals are unrealistic on pump while maintaining "good low to midrange torque and spool characteristics." You can't have your cake and eat it too. Third, the transmission and/or internals will break at stock levels if you drive like an idiot. Period.

Bone stock 2002 2.0 block, fmic, intake, STI injectors, pump, exhaust, etc and no injection I made 292 awhp 297 tq on pump (93). 50/50 mix of race (117) and pump netted 324 awhp and 338 tq. My car weighs under 3,000 lbs and is fast. Ask some of the STI owners that raced with me at the track.

The VF-34 and VF-22 are quite a bit different IMHO. The VF-34 is not a "large" turbo, but you can't wish for the response of the stock turbo and ask for 300+ awhp. It ain't gonna happen. The VF-22 will give you more peak horsepower and some claim it spools nearly as quickly as a VF-34. I think that it has to be tuned very aggressively to come close. I would not even think of running a VF-22 without large (read not STI) injectors.

Why not ask about the VF-30? Many claim it is nearly identical to the VF-34 in performance. Prominent tuners have said there are little to no differences in performance.

My $0.02. Opinions will and do vary. I can be reached at james.s.johnson.iii@hotmail.com or you can do a search and find my cell #. I don't get on this board too often. Blame it on the Vette.
