Up/Down Pipe Comment

I'm going to get Pat's Greddy Evo exhaust which includes the midpipe and muffler. I'm looking a HKS up/down pipe set for $285. Is this a good deal and worth the money?? All comments will be a great help. Thanks.

I haven't seen a lot

of people jumping up and down for the HKS downpipe. Some feel it will limit the amount of power you make down the road. There are plenty of other downpipes out there that are more favorably reviewed. Don't know squat about their uppipe. I have a Godpeed downpipe and have never seen a CEL. And you don't have to order an electronic fix, the downpipe "fools" the ECU.

Even more reason

to steer clear of the HKS. If WRX owners are saying it's restrictive at high HP levels, why would an STI owner want one? Search, research, and more search/research.

I'm still learning with all this techie stuff. I didn't know that getting an up/down pipe for my STi is useful. I see alot of reviews and comments on WRX's but it's hard to get points of view from STi owners. I rather ask you all for opinions before I go and purchase something that I DONT need. Thanks for the comments.

1) you don't need a uppipe since stock is catless
2) check out the STi forum and see what s happing to people w/ TBE, There is one solution that i'm sure of and one that i still have q's about. Go there and see

The main reason that people swap out the uppipe on the WRX is to get rid of the CAT. Since the STi does not have a CAT in the uppipe it's probably a waste of money and most important time. uppipe swaps are a pain.
