Techies: I'm an LCD convert.
I just bought my first LCD monitor: the Kogi 17inch. Asthetically beautiful inside and very beautiful on the display part. The good thing is that the blacks are black, not dull, even without cleartype enabled. I'm a totally LCD convert now. Too bad they cost alot, this one cost me 389. Which is a very great price.
Richard, Dave, etc, you guys converted it? I'm going to have my Sony G220 series flat CRT for my submonitor on nview dual mode.
Anyone else have LCD monitors and love it, what type do you have?

I love LCD's for office work. I haven't been keeping up - but about 6 months ago the affordable consumer LCD's didn't have the blackest blacks and would still "ghost" when displaying fast moving video images (ala DVD and/or games).
Maybe I'm just trying to pick nits because I can't afford a good LCD.

i've been using LCD's almost exclusively for about three or four years now. i've almost forgotten what a CRT looks like. the LCDs do cause eyestrain more quickly than the CRTs though. i just don't have the room for a 19" CRT...

werd. i gots a sony HS73 17" right now and it rocks. i gotta turn it off and on about halfway through the day to recalibrate? though. costs a couple prette pennies though. b
Im running the Gateway 19" LCD and love it. I do agree with eyestrain tho. I gotta look out the window every 15 mins or so and I love it for games. Havent looked into the cleartype deal tho?! Havent even heard of it to tell the truth.
To enable cleartype (for XP only):
Right-click on the desktop, select Properties >> Apperance Tab >> Effects button >> 2nd down down box: select ClearType and make sure "Use the following..." is checked.

Yes that works, but there are so many settings on cleartype that can either make it clear or more eyestraining and blurrier. I suggest going to www.microsoft.com and search under cleartype. they have an online utility that allows you to turn on cleartype and then set the settings. very easy stuff.
