Somewhat a Newbie
I'm not an owner of a Subbie, but my gf has a 2.5 RS 2004, and I wanted to give her a hand with getting mods for her car going. If anyone got n e thing to help me with, I would love it, and I'll post pics of her car later on when I get a chance. Thanks in advance peeps.

what exactally do you want? power, controll, both? for power start with an exhaust and maybe a good intake. other than that i would go more for suspension like sways and such. depends really what you wanna do with it.
well I go to the auto cross a lot, and she really wants to try it someday. I wanted to try and drop her car a little with some sways and what not, the body roll is getting on my nerves :P... Other then that, its totally up to her, shes thinkin bout either STI rims or 18" rims, idk... we'll see

You're gonna be pretty dissapointed with the drop from a sway bar install...LOL!
Anyways, Sways will work best first...but don't forget the end links (please don't make me explain...just do a search
). If you want a drop, it's better to go with a coilover kit rather than springs (do a search). After that, it's up to her I guess.
Don't waste money on intake and exhaust unless you only want 15 extra HP (if that much at all)...like 04 said, focus on control. At Solo II this last weekend, a dude in a GC8 (JTech) was approaching novice STi driver times so power isn't THAT necessary for auto X.
Oh and LOL on the 18" wheels! I was thinking of that when I started out and after a couple months of reading I decided against that. You lose performance unless you go with extremely wide tires and fender rolling.

>coilovers are better than springs...although they may be a bit harsh
>15hp is noticeable to most people+the bling factor of intake and exhaust yO
>Power is not the key to auto-x, grip and seat time is.

i would say for what it seems like she wants to do go with something simple first. drop springs, cheap sways, and a helmet. coilovers will be a waste of money if she doesn't like auto-x and she might not like the stiff ride. cheap sways and the stock endlinks are fine to start with. if she wants to go more into it you can always buy better. the stock rims are fine. maybe powdercoat if she doesn't like the color but 18'' is pretty huge for an rs. for the $1500 you'd spend on coilovers you can start her out with drop springs, sways, and maybe an exhaust. if she doesn't like it you can always sell the parts so keep the stock ones and you won't be out a lot of $$$. tis better on to upgrade than downgrade. hope that helps. just my $.02. L8R...oh and werd steve damn by the time i wrote this you already posted, guess i'm kinda useless.
