Should I bring my subie?

Just curious of the local opinion of those that are there. I'm getting stationed at Kaneohe and want to bring my car but unsure wether I should or not. How bad is the climate on cars there? I'd hate to have my car be a rust bucket after three years, but I also can't stand the thought of it being stored for that long too. The wife has agreed to let me pick up a bugeye once I get there to play around with and get my subie fix. Opinions?

Bring it. Wash it monthly including a spray-down on the undercarriage and regular waxing, and you won't have any rust problems.

Also, what sort of mods are you running? You might have some "fun" with a little something called "recon".

Yeah the recon bit is something to consider...do a search on here as there's a few threads about it. Basically, if you're car is too far gone to pass recon you may want to take your wifey up on her offer.

Though I have never heard of a street legal car that wasn't able to pass recon with a bit of work.

I've just got RCE yellows, sways and bushings for the suspension; TBE(catted), boost solenoid, and tune engine wise. Pretty mild mods so I don't think recon will be a prob.
Not sure of which specific unit as of yet, orders just have me reporting to 3rd Regt. I should call and see if I can get more specific.

plus, youll barely have time to play with it b/c youll be busy half of the time doing your duties.

If you push on the front of your car, can you get a little bit of travel on the front suspension? And you're not TOO slammed, are you? If so, you should be OK.

The springs only lower it 15-20mm (1/2 inch) and I've got some travel if you push on it. My brother is stationed there and seems to think it'll be fine, he drives a lowered MS3 and gave me a heads up on recon.
My MOS is communications
