I've

pretty much decided I can live with a "single" 10". I'm happy with the bass I'm getting. My kids won't even let me turn up the volume and they refuse to even think about a second sub. I have the head unit sub level set at 0. It's a lot easier to just pull one box for the track as well. The brackets are extremely simple, and probably not necessary, but I didn't want it moving side to side. Let me know when you want to check it out.

No. It doesn't make a huge amount of difference if you mount the sub "into" the box or "out of" the box. You're still dampening the movement of the sub with the box whether you're controlling the front or backside of the driver. Mostly just aesthetics. Lots of people utilize this approach with the spare tire area. A free-air sub wouldn't have a box at all, just a faceplate. Imagine a plate mounted to the back of your rear seats with the magnet facing the rear of the car. The trunk would act as a "box". Free-air subs usually don't reproduce low bass well. I studied audio long ago (and far away). Fletcher-Munson field effect spoken here.

One other thing. By mounting a sub facing into a box, you don't have to subtract the internal volume the sub would take up from the overall enclosure.
