Reid's Recon/ Safety Check Information Thread
so according to this sticky it is also illegal to have an aftermarket exhaust? if not then is there a noise limit or a requirement to have a resonator because i have no resonator on my exhaust and im up for a safety inspection in two months.

I'm military and headed to Oahu in Jan. I will be bringing my STi with me. Its just a stage 2 with coil overs. I plan on keeping my out of state tags for the duration of my station. I know I have to get a safety inspection and out of state permit sticker....Since I have an altered suspension will I have to get RECON or will I be exempt? Thanks in advance.

well, max of 1 year. you can keep it until the registration ends for that state.
recon is a bunch of bull. raise your car to stockish height, cover your suspension in dirt, take it to a different safety check station till they pass you... haha

They give you a proof of inspection that you take to recon. Get the recon and then get final safety papers. Then register. Or don't get recon at all and go the shady route. Unfortunately that's illegal and we DOnt condone it here.
but apparently i cant go to the recon office without "current" registration???!! my registration is 2010 and my safety is 2009...
-i cant pay for registration without safety
-i cant get safety without recon
-i cant visit the recon office without current registration

my subaru is current, this is for toyota truck with ireversible suspension mods lol

Just got pulled over because apparently my safety check plate is gone, don't know how it happened really (lost/stolen not sure). Showed the officer all my paperwork & proof that I have passed safety. How would I go about getting a replacement sticker? I really don't feel like explaining myself every time I get pulled over just for the absence of a sticker. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. Just double checking with everyone. Has anyone pased recon on their wrx/sti with aftermarket suspension? Ive had no problems with other cars but i failed the first time wit my wrx cause apparently our suspension is too stiff from the get go. Just wanted to see if anyone else had luck or knows how i can pass... One option i have is to set my dampers to the softest. Idk if that will help haha.
