Popping/crunching noise?
I got cusco zero 2r's and the noise is coming from up front, passenger side. Anyone heard of or had any problems with this coilover setup? I'm hoping its the strut and not the axle!
Coilovers were used. Let me know please!

Happens on turns and over speed bumps. When turning it'll pop or crunch once and when turning back the other way it'll pop again. It pretty much seems when the cars weight shifts, it pops or crunches. If i take that strut off, what am i supposed to look for? Teflon(huh)?
Dont know how old they are but I got them from someone on here.

Axle issue would sound more like a repetitive ticking as u turn or accelerate. So it must be an issue with the coilover. Check to see that all the bolts are buttoned down maybe jack up that side and grab the wheel at 9 and 3 o clock and shake it and see if heres any play. Also if the coilover has camber adjustable sliders in the top mount then that could be a problem too if anything comes loose there. GL dude.

you need to tighten up that spring a lil. mine do this too i've just been too lazy to get under there and tighten em up. just a turn or two should do it and the noise will go away. GL

check the bracket that holds the brake line on as well, mine wiggled loose after my install and was making a popping sound when i would turn the wheel.
Brandon,
I know you probably checked this, but you pre-load on the coilover is set right?
I have heard that popping noise on drop springs on many civics and other sport compacts, and usually it is associated with the spring portion of your setup.

^^yeah make sure da buggah is tight. preload is the amount of load on the spring before putting the cars weight on it. it's like what i said earlier but more technical.

I agree with Justin and Chris,
Joey and I just spoke about this yesterday.
What typically happens is...The adjustable collars to lock down the strut from turning (changing height) gets loose and the spring either tightens or loosens up as the strut body spins....changing the preload of your springs.
The sound you are hearing is the spring/perch joint binding. Normally there is a rubber gasket/mount looking part between the two...yours might have disintegrated like most other Cusco owners.
You will also notice that there is a bunch of grime between the spring and perch.
What I normally do is loosen up the spring, clean everything up, then I place a bit of Mobil1 Synthetic grease between the spring and perch. I preload the spring (unweighted) to the point where I can barely turn it with my hands. In this way, in your worst case scenario (wheel off the ground), the springs are still slightly preloaded so they won't slop around even unweighted.
You could do what Joey did and replace out the rubber piece...
I do this every 6months or so...my Cusco's are happy and so am I.
good luck,
