Place to get computer processor tested?

By any chance.. does anyone know where I would be able to get a processor core checked? Just the CPU itself?

A friend gave me some older computer stuff and the board might be dead. Currently the computer doesn't boot. Trying to diagnose if its CPU or Mobo.

Pentium 4 1.5G Socket 478 I think Willamette core. Old, yes..

Hah, unless these are so cheap I should throw em away huh.

Thanks for the tip.

The system was handed to me from a friend; it stopped working so I figured maybe I could get a cheap system up and running PIII 1.5Ghz vs. my PIII 600Mhz..

System wouldn't POST so I figured, hmm.. mobo or proc, but couldn't confirm because I didn't have a mobo to swap nor a processor. I didn't want to buy a mobo and find out the proc was bad too.. I'd like to build a fresh system later.

So I had to suck it up and pay someone to tell me:

Processor and Motherboard is dead, Power Supply Is good, No info on video card (forgot to ask- DOH)

Maybe someday i'll be able to get away from my PIII 600Mhz.. It really lacks power for those new games or pretty much any video editing program.
