the PATRIOT Act

The PATRIOT Act makes a mockery of our civil liberties, letting government officials spy on whomever they want, for any reason, without ever letting them know or giving them a chance to challenge the order in court.

Now we need your help: The House is trying to ram through the PATRIOT Act TOMORROW, and the bill includes no meaningful reforms.

Will you sign on to our petition urging Congress to let the PATRIOT Act expire?

It'll only take a few seconds, and we're going to deliver an updated version of it before the vote.

Please click here to sign on -- we need to increase the pressure on Congress TODAY.

Thanks for making your voice be heard.

Jess...I admire you for serving our contry and I have the highest respect for those that do...at the same time, you made the individual choice to serve our country and abide by those rules. Civilians did not.

Before you start flaming me and getting upset, I do agree that there has to be a balance between what the Patriot Act does and the upholding of our civil liberties. Most people who do not share my sentiments about the military and do not understand the military will not agree with you...

I was in the military for almost ten years and yes it was by choice. One of the many reasons that I got out was because I didn't like that I had no control of my life. The patriot act is just another form of control that the US people should not stand for, military or civilian.

Joey I was actually being a smart *** on my last sentence. But at the same time you are correct in it being my choice.

As for this patriotic act, i really don't know. i am split down the middle. On one side you don't want your privacy to be invaded but at the same time you gotta have some sorta way of keeping an eye on the wrong doers. Especially nowadays we have home grown terrorists right here in America.

I am willing to bet a good percentage of the people that are screaming no to the Patriot Act are the same ones *****ing to the government that they didn't do enough to prevent 9/11.

Its a hard decision on which side of the argument to stand by. With the Patriot Act, we must acknowledge that even though civilians have been and will be exposed, it is a necessity since the bad guys have no rules to abide by.

The problem will expound if and when the govt will abuse civilian rights not necessarily at the expense for national defense. We live in a great country, unfortunately we are still pawns compared to the greater cause/entity which is the USA and the bodies that govern it.
