Passed the Saab dealer.....

and checked out that Saab/Subaru wagon today and I gotta tell you guys that it is fricken beautiful!Or I at least HOPE is the Saabaru. It's got a cool color to boot, kinda like a Sand metallic goldish yellow or something. That Saab front-end really sets off that car.

yep, saw it in the show, .... it is nice, and you're right about the front end, .... the only thing is the rest of the car is ALL Subaru wagon. I mean even the 'leather' interior looks like the "Katzkin" leather kits. I didn't find out how much they're selling them for, .... so how much are they selling them for??

oh Vern, btw, ... I need another 240 clutch!

They Quoted me 28,995.

I have so mixed feelings about this.
I like it... I'm jealous of it... The Gentleman, Dan Hays, who is the Regional Sales Training Manager for the Western Region did say this.

#1 Subaru's are built from the DNA of an AWD vehicle from the ground up... which of course includes its engineering intel.

#2 Saab's are not. nor do they have the history of SUBARU.

But to an untrained eye like mine. It sure does look like a SUBARU.

I dunno, "Chance UM' I guess?"

I guess your paying for the Leather? I dunno, SAAB had to do something.

Kinda like a REMix song. My Nephews and Neices always ask me, " Uncle Nino" how come you know all the words to that song? I thought it was a New Release?" My Response is, " Because the other folks have no dicipline & talent in creating their own songs... so they have to ask and take from other."
STILL GETTING PAID.

DON'T FORGET NOW. THEY HAVE TO PAY THE OTHER FOLKS AS WELL AS TRY AND GET PAID ON THEIR REMIX PROJECT. HEY IF YOU WANT LEATHER I CAN HAVE SOMEONE PUT IT IN FOR YOU!

Oh well... sorry so long winded. Just my $.02

Aloha,

Nino

You guys know if the SAABaru is based on th4e legacy platform or the impreza? Id rather get the Subaru version and add the SAAB front clip with the extra bones I saved on buying the subaru.

From what I understand it is based on whatever SAAB Chassis are and Subaru added on. This was a direct quote from Dan Hays.

Greg, do you remember what he actually mentiond/stated to us at the meeting.

But I could be wrong... can anyone else elaborate... I'm just a lowly sales person.

The Saabaru is based on the Impreza WRX Wagon. I sat in the one at the show and it felt like my old wagon, but just looked different (the interior decor).

Whatever the Saab folks want to say, but it's still a living breathing Subaru on the inside and that's not a bad thing is it? As for the price, hmm, I'd just buy the one with the Subaru emblem and save the $$. It does have some nice exterior style changes, but not enough to convince me to pay that much more.

not really but i do know that its essentially a subaru impreza wrx wagon. in every sense of the word. what i do remember him saying though is that subaru's main function(or marriage to saab a.k.a. gm) is that SOA will use their(gm) "financial pockets" when it somes to certain accesories(like keys-chipped ones)-due in part that Subaru does not have the deep pockets to "warehouse" accessories(gee i wonder how that can be? ) and also will get a little help in terms of interior pieces. one question on my mind is will we still be using nissan switches on the doors.. ?

thats all the $.02 i got for today

The '05 STi looks like it has a LOT of the SAABARU interior parts (center stack, steering wheel, etc.)

i really do not like the steering wheel. my only concern with that interior dash on the sti will be "creaking" noises with mileage. . . we'll see i guess

oh, it's for my S14, not S13

and like Tim said, that Saab is based on the WRX wagon, ... AND if the Saab 'salesmen' are saying different, ... they are FULL OF SH*T. I looked "ALL" over that car at the show, and it is a WRX wagon with a nice front end and leather seats.

Like I said, Id buy a Subaru wagon and throw the Saab front end on with the extra coin I saved. I don't need no stinkin leather. Besides, If I bought the Saab, you guys would razz me to the grave with all the "you got ripped" and "It's just a Subaru, you are soooo stupid" lines. I like wagons. I got a kid. Kids got stuff....... A LOT of stuff. I would like a cool wagon. The Saabaru is a cool wagon, but not for the coin. I dont have the scratch for a BMW 540I wagon or a Audi quattro ***-kicker, so the Subaru with a Saab front end might be what I want.
