Well, parking lights aren't THAT bright so it just kind of casts a bit of a glow around, that's all.

It's not weird in places that lack adequate street lighting or have overly narrow streets. As for the batteries, parking lights aren't that big of a strain, and if any batteries die, they were probably going bad anyway
