Oka's Auto Body helps to give back to the community...

Hey guys/gals, I just wanted to share something with you that I'm very proud to be a part of. Our shop, Oka's Auto Body, has been working with the National Auto Body Council, State Farm Insurance, and The Lokahi Giving Project on a very special donation this year. We acquired, repaired, and "decked out" a 2001 Chrysler Voyager and will be donating it to a deserving family on Maui. So many of our business partners have donated parts, labor, and gifts to make this presentation even more special. (Special thanks to those fellow Suby*Life members who have already donated to this project as well.) The giveaway will be on Monday November 24th, 2008 and I believe will be aired on the Channel 2 news. (Hehehe, I think they're trying to get Trini Kaopuiki here that night to cover the event... ) It's nice to see that even in these tough economic times, we can help to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Here's a couple of links to the news/press releases:

BTW, if anybody would like to make a donation, please call me @ 216-1424 and ask for Brandon. All donations are tax deductible. Thanks

Thanks for the info Blake. This is the first time that a project like this has been done in the Hawaii Collision repair industry. If all goes well, my family would like to do this project every year, and a big part of it is selecting the non-profit organization to work with.

Agreed.

There are always those families out there that have needs that overshadow our own.

This is such a great way to teach the sprit of giving to my young daughter. Thanks Brandon for this opportunity!

Great...thanks Bran. I'm happy that your family is thinking of doing this as an annual gift. It really is something that's needed for many non-profits.

I have a pretty in-depth knowledge of most of the major and some of the minor non-profits in HI so feel free to ask if me as I can think of like 10 that could use vehicles. Most of them need some kind of transportation to pick up/transport clients to different things like doctor appointments, respites, etc.

Nice job, Bran! Everyone at your place, staff, family should be proud. Some very needy families out there, hawaii's unemployment rate is 6%.
And on a plus, the exposure you receive from Trini and the gang should boost business in a sagging economy.

First of all, I'd like to thank all of those who donated to make last night such a special night. The event went smoothly and the family was such nice people. Very humble and so very appreciative. It was even more touching when the father spoke and told everyone how he thought he might have to tell his 5 kids (ranging from 2 years old -17 years old) that Christmas wasn't coming this year. He then went on to say that thanks to everyone who participated, his family would have a great X-mas. Great job guys and thanks again. The Aloha spirit still lives on, even in these tough times. I'm so proud to have been a part of it.
