Never

heard of this. High octane burns cleaner. What makes you think you need to "clean" the front O2? I have the O2 socket. I have isopropyl alcohol. Can't think of anything else I'd use on it.

Well,

there's a big difference between an EGT sensor and O2 sensor. The front O2 sensor is mandatory, period. The rear O2 is not. The front EGT sensor is primarily there for the catted uppipe. He's talking about his front O2 sensor, not his EGT sensor (if he even has one).

I have ran probably over 200 gallons of xylene through my car and have frequently checked my front o2 sensor. Beyond some carbon right at the neck (not in the ex stream), my o2 has always been immaculately clean.

I'm with San. I'm curious why you think your o2 is dirty due to xylene. What negative effects are you seeing in the operation of the car?

BTW you don't clean O2 sensors, you buy new ones. Most things I have read say once a year is good. That is probably more often than most anyone here is ready for, plus if you tune with a wide band I guess the stock ones aren't doing as much as they would be otherwise; since you are mandating the base maps.

Sorry,

but this thread was about the FRONT O2 sensor. That sensor is mandatory, period. The rear is optional (but you'll get a cell without a fix).

You'll get a Check Engine Light (CEL), if you dont get some sort of "fix" for it ie. Wire that you connect to the rear sensor, < electrical or mechanical.
