I got flicked off by a guy in a Bug a few days ago and I didnt even do anything to him. Along with he had his kid with him what a great example to show to his kid.
My first two cars were bugs and I have a lot of good and not so good memories:
1) You can actually fit up to 10 teenagers in a bug and still drive it.
2) The engines were (are?) easy and cheap to drop out and rebuild, which is a good thing because I had to do that a few times.
3) No lack of head room
4) You can even fit a passenger in the trunk up front (well if they are skinny like my friend was)
5) Always, no ALWAYS carry an extra fan belt and the tools required to replace a broken belt. No fan belt on an air cooled engines makes for a lot of smoke and a quick trip back to #2.
The most amazing part is that I bought both bugs for under 1K and spent half that amount keeping them both running for many years.

I've wanted one for about 15 years...wOOt!
I'm looking for a nice "Turnkey" motor for it. I'm thinking a 1914cc something like this http://www.qualitygermanautoparts.com/Mainframe.htm and a EFI kit http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=278
I really want to get the EFI kit so I can really start learning and messing with EFI. I think this will be a good test bed/learning project for me.
The stuff I learn from this project I will use in my next project...which is classified at this time
...oh and I will get a fan belt and fire extinguisher ASAP!
