Back from Vegas - Porsche & Suby stuff

Well I just got back today. Earlier in the week I had the pleasure of visiting Renegade Hybrids. They specialize in dropping Chevy V8s into Porsches. I got a tour of the shop and the coversion kit. Unfortunately I can't post pics because the owner asked that I don't photograph certain components. This is their webpage:

I also got to meet a guy who works there that has a EJ20 in a 914. The conversion looks great. Here's a little video of him having some fun.

The car is actually being shot this week for an article in Subysport.

look familiar???

I know, me too. Too bad every 914 that I've seen is rusted out. Those cars were not galvanized .

my teener with a suby

I got one of these cars. No rust and an extensive rebuild MAJOR $$$$$. Not as much as a new WRX but $26k is not pocket change. I am going over the top on my rebuild, but you could do the same swap without all of the old "unubtainium" parts for about $7K with the car. If you go to www.914club.com you can find a nice tub for under 2K. I will post pics when complete... Just got the car repainted and should be done in a couple of months.

Cool, keep me informed. I'll check out the 914club page.

What I really like is a project like this entails the best of all my previous cars. Mid-engined rear wheel drive like the MR-2 turbos I've owned. A turbo flat-4 like my previous WRX, no other 4-banger sound better IMO and it's the cheapest Porsche which many (especially Porsche owners) look down on.

If I had a garage to use for a year or so I'd consider selling my 944 Turbo and getting a rust free 914. It'd be painted WRB (w/ black top) have gold Fuchs wheels and sport a stock STi motor and tranny
