Not too sure how long you worked there, but my friend Kevin was the exec chef there, and my other friend Jason used to work there too.

Brandon: Momomo sounds interesting, might have to look into that. Thanks!

El: Fare might be a bit too heavy for her, but that's a good suggestion. I like the vibe there!

jocool: Italian food by an Italian chef sounds good. I'll take a look at that!

Walter: FAIL!

Reid: TTIWWOP, right?

berryboy: that's out of my price range I'll go die now

Fa9-WRX: that's pretty damn cool of you! I might just have to PM you about that! Thanks!!

simontempler: we've covered a few of the aforementioned spots, and thanks for pointing out Cafe Miro. That sounds interesting!

Ryan,

To me izakaya-style restaurants are pricy b/c i tend to eat more than i drink.
Even if you drink a lot, your bill should still be high.
That said, some of my favorite restaurants are more izakaya-style than restaurant style.
Shun bistro is my favorite. Itamae-sama Benkei used to be a good friend there back in my sushi days. His creative style of fusion is purely japanese, but with other influences.
Yo-hei is also a very good place to eat. But although small, i feel may not be very condusive to hanging out a while.

Those 2 places i don't consider in that price range criteria, but are great nonetheless.

I also like kabuki in waimalu. This is a restaurant, and fits nicely into your price range.

Let us know where you picked.

Chris: Thanks for the suggestions! Bistro Shun is a place that I've looked at a few times, and now that you've told me what you have, I may just consider it! As for Yohei, I've always wanted to try them but they're still in the middle of a long vacation I'll have to check out Kabuki -- are they a usual sort of "sushi and teishoku" Japanese restaurant?

I like Shokudo near Ala Moana,an interesting mix of atmosphere and tasty cuisine. Located next to Angelo Pietros!
Reasonably priced as well!!
Garlic shrimp rice is awesome, but only if you don't mind offending everyone you talk to after that!!!

Ahhhh Pietro's....the memories. Not too sure if they're all good or not. I was the Kitchen Manager there a whiles back. Good food (or at least it used to be), and very affordable.

+1 for kabuki with your stated price range. Order the soft shell crab handroll, ono-licious.

Imanas Tei would be out of that range, but that's some good eats too.

2.5 DOHC: we've been to Shokudo as well; I like that place! The drinks were a bit weak though

Brandon: that's right, Angelo Pietro! I've always wondered if they were any good haha.

Reid: I'll let you know how dinner went as soon as it happens It's on the horizon for now; we've yet to decide on a night this coming week

substitude: Thanks for the heads up on Imanas Tei; izakaya's can really add up, huh?

If you feel like spending a little more coin, you can also check out the Hau Tree Lanai in the New Otani Hotel (used to be Kaimana Beach Hotel) at the end of Waikiki, near The W. Nice location, literally right on the beach. Good food and great service. A little pricey, but sure to make for a nice night. Hmm, walk on the beach first???

I feel it depends on whether or not you are trying to bang this girl.

I say Brew Moon or Ryan's...if they're still there.

Chai's Island Bistro is good too...basically no where in Waikiki because you never know when you'll get pulled over and it really puts a downer on your libido action / banging attempt.

If not trying to bang her, then I say Zippy's.
