Maybe i'm just a bad driver???
anybody with an 04 STi grinding in 5th? for some odd reason, even when i'm not pushing my car, i seem to be grinding in 5th all the time. like... even when i hold the clutch down and literally take my time to feel that i'm out of 4th, into neutral, and into 5th. it's weird this it the first time this has ever happened in my driving experience. i was just wondering if that was normal or if there might be a defect with the tranny or something... iono... just wonderin if anyone knew.

Well I'm running with 350.5 WHP as dynoed on DynoComp's dyno dynamics dyno and I have no grinding or problems. 30K miles on the odomenter. I think you should definitley go into the dealer for service. First make sure you fluids are toped off. If they are low, then it is your fault. Not to be mean or anything, but it is just a good idea to check fluids all the time. The 6MT is a freaking moster of a transmission, so if well maintained it should be near problem free. There are always defects that make it into our cars and that is where the warrenty comes in.

Definitely get it to the dealer and let us know how it turns out. That certainly sounds like something that should be warranty repaired.
