I know that our cars are supposed to run on premium unleaded fuel.
What is the difference between leaded and unleaded fuel? Can I use leaded?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of running one or the other?
I heard that leaded can be run in cars without any cats any truth to this?

Run leaded if you want, but kiss your O2 sensors goodbye after a few tankfuls.
A side from that you can generally get higher octane fuels from leaded gasoline. And cheaper to boot.
But lets not forget the environmental side effects of leaded fuels...
Lead for one instance.

leaded fuels were used for a long time due to the lack of strong inexpensive metals for valves and seats. the lead acted as a cushion between the valve and seat ( because it didn't combust).
or something wierd like that.
New engines don't require that because we have better metals to make our valves/seats/heads out of.
