I watch way too much tv

you ever see those public service announcement commercials for the 'McGruff Truck'(usually on Cartoon Network). is it me, or are they telling kids to in case of an emergency, call the McGruff Truck, and THEN have them call 911? why not save time and call 911 yourself?

dialing 911 has wayyyyy to many numbers for the local kids to remember. dis wun tyme wen i wen go come stay at dis park. me went have to go call 911 and go ask da lady wut da numba was fo 911

or they just dont want kids to make false 911 calls (if the situation didnt call for medical attention?

....i see that commercial all the time. and did you ever notice that the mcgruff truck driver wasnt wearing any seat belt? i think its funny, lol.

also, after seeing it yet again, they don't show a number to call, if you do want to reach the truck

Yeah, those commercials are made prior to the cell phone boom... now, kids younger than me (that would be a lot of them) are rocking a cellie cell.
