I-Club Hawaii Beware (Kinda long....sorry)
I'm fairly new still yet to the Suby scene here, with my first Suby being my '04 STi and now with my wagon. One of the first and most admirable things I noticed when getting my Suby was the sense of "family" and respect, that local Suby owners showed each other. I thought it was great and made me feel a lot more comfortable with my purchase as well as when I purchased parts from other "family members". Well Beware, not all I-club members feel the same way.
For those of you who know me, I'm a straight up guy and would honor my word. I recently purchased a bov from a local member (who will remain nameless). I traded a bov that I had + some cash on my end for his bov. Again, for those of you who know me, I'm a collector. I have gone thru many bov's and like to have them to switch out when the mood strikes......I'm sure some of you can relate. Long story short, almost 2 months later, I did a "spring cleaning" and decided to sell that bov since it was only sitting around, and was NEVER installed once since it was purchased. A friend of mine bought the bov and tried to install it that same day. He later called me back and told me the bov didn't work. I, feeling like an *** for selling him a broken part, obviously told him I'd refund his money right away. Being that I didn't ever install that bov, I had no idea it didn't work. But, I was the one who sold it, so it was MY responsibility to make it right. So of course I did, and met up the next day for the refund. I then PM'd the original seller and asked him NICELY how he wanted to take care of it. a few PM's later, he finally tells me that there is nothing he can do about it, since he didn't know it was broken, since he also never installed it. Ok, that's cool, I understand you didn't know, but in my mind, at least own up and take responsibility. But he said well, it's been too long since I bought it like almost 2 months ago. Ok, so whether I bought it 2 minutes ago or 2 months ago, he still sold me a broken bov, right??? After he told me that there was nothing he could do, I sent him another PM TELLING him I wanted my money back......of course he's never responded to me since then.
It's not about the money, it's about the principle. I really thought that we took care of each other here. I've loaned out parts before to other members on numerous occasions who I barely even know. Why? Because I felt comfortable that they would take care and return the "Aloha". Beware guys, not all locals feel the same way. Moral of the story.......when buying parts, You HAVE to install it right then and there, or you don't qualify for a refund.....Hahaha!

He seemed like a pretty cool guy at the time, and I didn't really think I'd get screwed by a fellow "local". Boy was I wrong. I already gave him his positive feedback and I'm not too sure if you can revise it. Oh well, just trying to give other honest members a heads up that not everybody locally will stand by their products.

sorry to hear that bran, I hope that guy remains the exception to the rule as for the most part it seems that the subie guys take care of each other. i have been very impressed with the hospitality of the i-club members here as almost everyone i have met has lent me a hand in one way or another. lets keep it that way i say!

Yup, It's time to call Tony the fish and Vinny the butcher for some help. Nah serioulsy, I'm pretty sure that he's decided (at least in his mind) that it's cool to just stiff another member. He was returning my PM's when I first started PM'ing him about the problem, but when I told him I wanted my money back, he hasn't responded to me since June 29. Good deal huh?

It basically doesn't blow off. When it's installed, it just sounds like you're getting compressor surge, and no high pitched eagle on steroids screech (HKS bov by the way). I tried adjusting the screw on the back, but it doesn't change anything. I've read a few posts before on Nasioc saying that others had this problem before. I don't know what's wrong with it.
Maybe it does work but is just not one of those loud BOVs. I've had 2 BOVs that were only barely audible (the boost gauge is your backup to tell you if it is working).
Anyways, yeah 2 months is a pretty long time before you ask for a return/refund even if you didn't use it. If it was like the day after, then yeah, I'd say you have a point but 2 months is just a long time in my mind.
I feel for you but on the other hand the other guy has a point as well...you buy things on this site "as is".

that sucks to hear and it sucks that you ended up with a broken part. However, I see no reason why he should refund your money. It sounds like it was a private sale and was sold "as is" with no written or understood warranty. Unless he said "I'll buy it back from you if it doesn't work" then theres no reason he should buy it back. Neither party is 100% innocent though, because thats the risk you run not inspecting parts before buying them. Most actual retail stores have a 30 day return policy, so even they wouldn't have refunded the money after 2 months.
I also don't blame him for not returning PM's after you "TOLD" him to refund your money. I would have ignored you after that point too, whether you're generally a good guy or not.
