well hey.. if they have their lights on.. at least i know that they are responding to a call..
if they dont.. i just HOPE that they are.. and hope that the person is okay.. otherwise i really would like to think that they arent horsing around

we are very quick to judge what we "think" the officers may be doing. example...we see a cop at a light. all of a sudden his flashers go on and he runs a red light... what is the 1st thing most of us say? "oh there he goes..abusing his priveledges as an officer.."
i have friends/family in hpd..and i was so eager to become one back in a day...
and i'm not about to judge or place them into a category.. IMHO.. their good outweighs the bad..and have kept me and my family safe for the most part--
peter, i have been in a situation quite like yours before and thought the same thing...
as far as to the original question... HPD has a dvision just for traffic...from time to time they have "special task forces" or teams focus just on speeding. solo bikes..all they do is traffic. you will never find a solo bike responding to a domestic etc. if i am not mistaken this--- those black camaros you see on the highways with the shield .. belong to the traffic division...
possibly there may be a govt. funding mandate(requiring us to use $$) in order to get the money again next year.... which puts a whole gookuload of cops on the road(using overtime)!
so yeah- hope that answers the original question-

Luktang has made a good point!!! I would assume that if a police vehicle is responding to some type of emergency that they would definitely have some type of lights on to let the other drivers on the road know that they are speeding for a reason. It is stupid to pretend that there aren't cops out there that abuse their power............just my opinion.

all i'm saying is that you reall don't know what they are doing or why they are doing it. i'm sure the majority of the cops don't drive 30mph over the speed limit to go to 7-11 for a soda. if they are speeding (lights on or not), they should be given the bennift of the dought that they are doing their jobs. i can understand what you guys are saying and yea it would be nice if they had their lights on when they are responding to a call, but whatever the reason you shouldn't jump on them b/c like chuckie said, only god knows. i've also heard of cops in the states not using their lights on the freeway b/c it causes other motorists to freak out and cause an accident.

well on sat had the cruz at aiea times...me and some friends along with some other cars left to go towards kahala zippys and everyone just took off..me being that i got a speeding ticket and cant afford another one trailing way behind...got to the top of red hill heading down started to slow down as i seen a high beam coming up(bike cop)he pulls next to me we both look at each other then he takes off...i call ahead to tell friends there's a cop coming up fast..well caught up with one of them passing UH and still no cop pullin anyone over..well we were about 100 ft from the waialae ramp and seen that 3 of my friends got pulled over.....we go to zippys and there gfs call us asking us to come pick up there cars(all 3 got arressted for street racing)we park our cars on the street by zippys..head back gotta drive there cars(2evos, 1sti) to the HPD behind straub(this is around midnight)cops said we gotta bail them out b4 330 or they gotta stay till court date...n e ways to make a long story short i did not get home till 6am...there bail was 1g a piece...there going to court this week...damm i told them to slow down...ya that program is going on as i seen the police helicopter trolling around...o ya also heading home black camaro pulled up next to me reved me out the downed it and gone like no tommorrow..

well i dunno if they were actually speeding or not but i warned them n e ways...so i wasnt sure if the cops got them confused or not...well ya they said they didnt see no cops and ya if there was no cops they would not have got busted..hehe..going wed ? i dunno if i going i'm not going to run till friday...shoots man
