Put a little more air in your tires, check your fluids, bring covered shoes and a good attitude and you're ready to race.

Have fun, focus on that in the beginning. The results shoulnd't matter when you first start out.

I've been racing since the 80s when they first started racing at Aloha Stadium.

I started eight months ago. It is cool, because half my run group knows me. Haha. I run in STX, even though I have the CF hood which would bump me up. But, I don't really think the guys care. They know that my set up doesn't have any power and that I typically run 3-5 seconds behind the next guy.

thanks guys for all the the info.

Im hoping to learn more about my car, and more about my abilities to drive my baby, or lack thereof.
If u guys see me,drop by, I have a white 04 sti, stock with blitz nurspec, and you can tell its a nurspec thanks to the massive burn on my rear bumper.

one last thing, is it a good idea to bring a tent for shade, and does is cost to bring 1 person(hah, motivational support)

thanks again!
if you bring a tent, make sure you bring something to weigh the it down and you're not allowed to put any anchors into the pavement. we've had an incident where a tent was blown into a car window because it wasn't secured properly.

i'm one of the people at the entry gate so i can help you with exactly what you need to do. as a novice, we'll probably have you drive in heat 3 or 4. at the driver's meeting when they ask if any novices want a instructor, ask for one, it really helps. don't be shy, ask around for info and walk the course with people and they can help you with where to go so you don't get lost on the course. most of all, have fun.

I agree with the ride along with an instructor for your first runs. Believe me, Solo is like nothing you have ever driven. The obstacles come so fast and rapid fire. Just be realistic about your expectations. You won't be as good a driver as you think you are. It's quite humbling actually.

I've been driving for years and at our most recent test-n-tune, I still had instructors ride along with me. You never stop learning.

Yes, you can bring one person in w/ you.
And even though I've been doing it for years, i by no means consider myself an expert, and always welcome advise, as others have stated. And i still get excited before every event.
