Header Opinion

Which header is better performance wise - GTspec Gen II or APS Equal Length header?

I'd rather go with the cheaper one if they both give around the same numbers.

here you go a full comparison on unequal lenght, they used the grupe-s one but they are all the same design and they also tested a ported stock one and then a perrin equal lenght

Matt,

I am running the GT Spec V2 with GT up-pipe, my cousin Daniel (Ojichan STI) is running the Jet Hot coated Gruppe-S header...both on 04 STI's. Brad put on a GP Moto EL header...

On the STI's, we noticed no additional lag to speak of...but when we both got our Protunes...the engines really woke up...I wouldn't trade my header for anything...well, maybe a Fujitsubo EL...Roy...you listening??? heh heh

I like the APS header...but heard of the first batch cracking...and for $1200...not sure about that...heard the Perrin...the person I talked to at Vakamon with the Cream colored STI said he was dissapointed with his low end loss...but he was looking to get a protune...or have Ryan tune his ap with the street tuner software.

To take advantage of the header...really get a Protune...(when using an AP) for those that don't know what an AP is...it is the Cobb Accessport...

I am really impressed with the Protune...not only does the car start boosting earlier...the main difference is that it holds the boost all the way up the powerband...Cobbs stg2 maps wavered often, and did not peak like the PDX maps we use.

Just tried to call Airport Subaru...because of the buyout...they transferred me to the Beretania Street Subaru...boooo....592-4575...

Anyhow, here is what they told me: We are suppose to use an extended life (5yr) coolant...no special mix or anything...According to the person I talked to, they said that Subaru of Hawaii doesn't even bring the Subaru coolant in...they just use Napa brand 5yr extended life coolant...

im running the megan un equal on my car...06 leggy...

got theheader plus coating for $400 new...and its comparable to all the other en equals out there but with out the products

i have no low end loss, since my car shoots to 313 peak tq at 3050rpms and holds the tq above 250 till 5500 with a 6900 redline.

everyone that has had the oppotunity to ride in the cars know the kick...and it wouldnt have been there with out the header...

with a good protune...it should shift your TQ curve to the left, and loss of low end, i really dont know about...since i only experienced any loss when the car wasnt tuned for it...

hope that helps a little...
