well, to start off, about 2 weeks ago I decided to make a fiberglass enclosure for my forester, so for about a week I was leaving my windows open to get rid of the resin smell in the car ,and one night last week I forgot to close the windows, next morning I get up about 9:45 and get ready to go to the mall with the family, at about 10:30 notice the windows open just before we leave(in my other car) and I close them, get back about 2:30, about 2:45 I need to run to the hardware store and get in my forester and notice a funny smell and when I look over to the passenger side I see my door panel melted and black debris all over the car. It turns out that an amp I had under the seat shorted out and the 100 amp fuse I had was too strong to blow from a weak short, not too big of a deal except now I dont have a car that will fit the 7 sub enclosure that I was working on....mmmm....maybe Ill put them in the gc now that Im not selling it any more.

dude that f'n sucks ur car could of got on fire and next thing u know your house is burning with the car.. u got lucky...so what r u planning on doing now?

i think he said it was the forester, i'm not sure so don't quote but to me it sounded like he took the other car out in the morning went to take the forester out in the afternoon and discovered the fire

 

He has more than one forester. Those are definitely not XT seats

I think closing the windows that morning smothered it and kept from getting worse, there was a newspaper on the floor board about a foot away in the front and one about 6" away in the back, anyway insuranc is totalling the car because not only the initial damage, but costs of getting the smell out of the interior, and other electrical problems.

 

^^Brian you serious?! Man oh man. Still you're lucky the fire was contained. Hopefully you can get another foz. Or are you planning on buying it back?
