Fuel filter relocation

Hey all,

I was wondering about moving my fuel filter in my trunk to make space in the engine bay. The new Subies have their filters integrated to the pump in the tank, all I'm doing is mounting it on the rear passengers side wheel well in the trunk, close to the fuel pump lid. Any negative sides to it? I figure it doesn't matter when the fuel gets filtered, as long as its filtered. Let me know what you think.

Joe

i wouldn't do it for safety reasons. you don't want any pressurized fuel connections inside the passenger compartment, the trunk counts in this case. if a connection fails it'll spray your trunk with fuel. true the hard lines run through the passenger compartment but all the connections are either in the engine compartment or in the space directly above the tank. just my .02

^^^THat's valid...but a lot of guys run fuel cells or secondary fuel surge tanks (if that's what I believe they are) in their trunks.

I'd say it'd be ok if you're down with the risk and use REALLY good connections.

off topic Joe but does that coil pack work for the EJ22?
Is that a MSD coil pack btw cause I was looking for a aftermarket one but Rons dont carry.

I'd say a connection will fail if the wrong hose is used and the clamp is not sufficient to hold under harsh conditions.

Ryan,

Yes, it works for an EJ22 as well. Read here and read it well, it's not just a direct plug-in affair: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f7/81773-...ml#post1881906

Dont get it from Ron's, they'll mark it up big time. I ordered mine off ebay.

Proof that it works:

they also run a rear bulk head thats suppose to be sealed from the passenger compartment..

I might have to invest on a ricer extinguisher for it, if that's the case.
