If anything, they should cite you for no recon, take a picture of the exhaust on the car (so you can't change out and go to recon) and then have recon measure it. To me that's the only clear way for them to prove you were breaking the law.
from my understanding exhaust is no longer a recon item anyway.....

You could try an exhaust from buschur with the quiet mufflers....that's something I was looking into for my sti..
My wife would drive through blaisdell with the stock sti exhaust and manage to set off pples alarms....go figure
I actually went to court for my loud muffler charge once and the lady judge asked me if i had a reason for contesting the charge, I said how can you say my muffler is louder than something like a Mustang GT because its all based on relativity and one exhaust might be louder to one person whereas it might not be as loud to another person. She took the reasoning and dropped the charge based on prejudice

same here. i called recon office and they said exhaust doesn't require recon anymore...so when i did go to court for the exhaust ticket, i told her what the recon office told me and she did away with the ticket.

other than that, i have the turboxs which is pretty loud, and since i live in town i try to keep the rpms really low. even though, i still get pulled over every once in a while for it.

Cops really need to become informed about the new recon guidelines and pull over the "REAL" dangers on the road (aka coughricercivicscough)
