Do I need to get a pro tune if I upgrade the air intake?

I was thinking about getting the K&N Typhoon Black Performance Air Intake Kit and I've been doing some reading on other forums. It seems like there's a mixed opinion. Some say it's not that big of a deal if it's the only upgrade, but others say you absolutely should. What do you guys think? Also, would an AP flash be good enough rather than taking it to a shop to be tuned?

You wont benefit from it without tuning for it. Cobb ots maps are designed either for stock air boxes or cobb intakes.

yes but the question is why do you need an intake? many people run over 300whp with the stock airbox

Ughhhhh there are way too many posts talking about this...

The stock airbox is more then adequate, spend your money elsewhere and really get your moneys worth.

There's alot of talk that an intake helps the GR much more than a GD. But, you would see better gains from a down pipe and a tune than you would an intake and a tune.

put the intake money towards sway bars.. definately better choice for the same price. or even a pulley. you can actually feel the smooth butter of the pulley vs intake. i notice squat with the aem cold-air.

Thanks for the input guys. I had done a little searching on the internet for a good place to start for modifications and saw a couple sites said to start with intake, exhaust, and access port.

So a good place to start would be either a downpipe and tune or sway bars?

I haven't upgraded any parts since I've bought it yet. Also does anyone know a good shop to get the car painted? I have a replacement side skirt that needs to be painted.

definately a downpipe and a pro tune. but if you can, do full turbo back for best results..
