I was quoted about half of what would have paid for a borla..I was planning on 1100 for that but now the extra cash I save I can use for the downpipe

Id go name brand as it would be easier to resell.

You can do your research on forums and you tube to as to what your car would sound like and for best new or used prices. You may also find fhem used on he forums. Also, if you plan to do more power mods, you can get an idea what hp and tq will be like compared to what other people on forums will have with similiar mods.

Lastly, if you go with a reputable name brand, you will know how well made or not an exhaust is based on other's review of them. This would mean weld and hanger durability, and if it will rust or not down the line. Youll get to know what proven dyno numbers for hp/tq if provided. Brand name is probably worth it even if it may cost you more.

i had the invidia catted DP and Q300 catback on MY12 WRX sedan and it was wonderful. it was not too loud at all unless you were WOT and it fit very well under the rear. I will tell you this now so you can avoid frustration later, you get what you pay for. if you are worried about noise/volume then get a solid built catback with a good resonator. sure the invidia setup was one of the more expensive but i never had a problem and I wouldn't be worried about it breaking a weld. the quality and peace of mind you're going to get buying a good name brand catback is well worth the price imo. if you want take a listen to someone with a system made by an exhaust shop and see if you can go for a ride on the freeway. then if you want i'll take you for a ride in my car and you can hear the difference for yourself between cheap and quality.

I have a Helix DP with some POS pinch bent piping to a Borla Muffler. I'll be at meat tonight. When I first got my car and up until yesterday I thought it still was a little annoying or raspy. Now having OEM headers and Uppipe again it sounds super deep and rumbly. At this point it seems a little two quiet but I am pretty sure I can't get a exhaust ticket with how low it is. Imagine a rumbly LS1 Miata

I'd like to agree, depends mainly on your budget. Custom installs can run the pocket empty to lol I've seen custom CBE go for $1000 in some instances...

I trolled YouTube looking for sound clips when I was shopping for mine, but I couldn't find the setup I wanted.

I ended up going with a invidia catless DP and tomei's extreme Ti CBE

Sorry i don't have my wrx anymore but you can still get a feel for how a quality part out performs a "cheap" one.
