CP OTS forged pistons for EJ18T

For the very few of us who own EJ18s, I am in the process of arranging with CP to build EJ18T forged pistons. I will be tearing my shortblock apart from the white car that I junked and sending the pistons for their model sample. I asked them for a target static CR of 8.5:1 and 9.0:1 if larger displacement heads are used for hybrid builds like mine in the past. EJ18T builds are becoming popular for us underpriviliged non-WRX/STI owners across the US and abroad. I'm contributing to those who need start with a good foundation, by replacing the weakest link in this potential block. EJ18 blocks are cheap and can be found at your nearest scrapyard or grandma. I'll keep those updated for those that are interested.

Love,

Joe

why go through all of that trouble for a 1.8?

you can find an open 2.5 block out of a legacy outback with a broken timing belt or something for dirt cheap.

Put some cheap used sti pistons and cheap used sti rods in that with some race bearings, ARP head studs, and you are good for 330whp and 350wtq all day.

all of this for just a little more than forged 1.8 pistons alone.

How much money would you have to put into a 1.8 to even touch that torque?

I'm not saying dont build it...the more forged parts the merrier, but there are easier and cheaper ways to make subie power. And I know you know this.

I'm just wondering why, that's all.

not speaking on Joe's behalf. but spanking a 2.5 with a 1.8 is priceless. much like how we like to spank V8's

I slowly walked on AngrySubyWagon's FPGreen'd EJ205 wagon with my little worthless motor, a couple of Navy driver STI's next door (one of them was a stage 2, I came across him somewhere after), and some V8's (told you I was guilty)...with the stock shortblock.

I'd still like to go through the trouble of unlocking more out of this little POS block that everyone thinks it is. This is also for EJ18 builders worldwide. Ever since I built my car and broadcasted it on Youtube, I had tons of questions asked from all over, even JDM land. Besides the small displacement being the first weak link, the pistons are more prone to breaking the motor first. Rods and crank can be shared with anything phase 1, and the block is stout = 10mm thick cylinder walls!!
