Calling All Mechanics and Gear Heads

Okay, First off I have an 08 STI Stage 2, not pro tuned yet..was waiting till i get more mods...
im at a fork in the road hope you can help me decide....
I am going to do 400WHP or slightly more but no more than 450....

Here is the ?
I have currently almost 6K miles on the car..

should I aim for my goal and hope all works out....we all know piston can go stock car or modded... with the 08's....should i do it and hope it lasts for 60K miles or more until it breaks..

Or .... should i spend the money first to build the block...then push my goal reliably???

If i decide to build the motor... who should i go to that is reliable and knowledeable in suby motors..to pull it out so i can ship it to get the work done...then have that person put the whole thing in...???

Any help would be great.... thanks.....all those great numbers from the TUNE over the weekend make me jealous!! in a good way!!!! i wanna see 400 now!!!

Hmmm 400whp+ on a stock block got go with a GT35R. 60k miles with 400whp+ will u are going to be pushing it. If you don't drive crazy all the time then maybe. But if u are keeping your subaru for 60k+ miles I would build the motor. A full long block would be the best bet for reliably 400whp+ engine.

build it first......but at the same time Jose has yielded over 450 on a stock block.

Your goals are definitely attainable. I learned the 08 engines onwards are MUCH better than previous years.

Question is, can you use that setup in Honolulu roads?

If boost comes in at 5-6k, that will suck (for me at least). That's a very narrow bandwidth.

BUT, you will definitely have a super top end - along with a possible go straight to jail do not pass GO ticket.

Let's face it, there just isn't enough asphalt here to exercise and enjoy such a beautiful setup completely.

But you will definitely win brownie points for being the most powerful STi in the state.

yeah i planned on sending the longblock to get done
its just not sure bout doing that first or trying to push luck and go with the turbo upgrade and then motor build before it breaks...

simon your right about the setup in hawaii...hell i can't even fully enjoy stage 2 without worrying about traffic...but its always nice to have more...thats why i was thinking go dom3 or4 and stick with around 400ish whp and still have nice spool and daily driver power.....but a gt35 would be sick!!!....im to old to worry about brownie points!!!!

+1 for the DOM 3, now I just got to get it fined tuned. Anyways I definitely would recommend Ryan and Davin at RDautomotive to build your block, they have built all my block and also very knowledgeable. I can vouch for them and others can.

You took the exact words right outta my mouth.

400whp seems to be the magic number.

I too, have those numbers in my cross hair.

It is indeed always nice to have more...
