Build Thread: SM Class - 94' GC
This is one thing I always regretted not doing for my wagon, so I'm going to try and record my travels through this GC. Updates will come periodically, and hopefully someone can learn something from it, I know I will be!
Plans for this vehicle are to build a competitive, able to be street driven, SM Class race car.

Suspension:
Aero:
Weight Reduction:
Pics at time of purchase, in June 2014:
Very dirty, motor would start but die immediately, and clutch was non-functioning.

7/13/14 Update
First time I have had a weekend of free time in about three months, so I decided to take advantage of that and do some work!
Got the motor to run steadily, I fixed a few problems but not sure which fix was the original culprit of the stalling issue.
Fixed:
Negative Battery Terminal was corroded and ready to fall off
MAF was very dirty and MAF had a few pins that had come out
O2 sensor was unplugged
Replaced the drivers side rear window, which had been smashed before purchase. The previous owner had supplied a new window but did not install it.
Also began removing the interior starting with the rear seats and carpeting, 20 years of crap including pencils/pens, about $5.00 in change, and what looked like feces were part of that fun!
Finally, gave it the first wash I would guess in the last 10 years. There is still a layer of what looks like over-spray on the entire vehicle, but I'm guessing that it is just caked on dirt, and will probably come off with a clay bar. However, eventually I will wet-sand the whole car and do a single stage paint job at some point, so I'm not too worried about it.
Pics after the wash!
Next up is to get the interior cleaned up so I don't feel like every time I sit in the drivers seat things are going to start growing on me, and probably replace the clutch so I can drive it until the time comes for the drivetrain swap.

Great acquisition Ryan, how the hell did you find this, especially in manual?!! SMH. Looking forward to see another built GC. I heard there is a red 4door one from Washington iirc that has STi swap also. I heard its at a local shop, I think its munkywurks. Ill be glad to offer a lending hand if you need help yanking the motor out or anything small.

UMMMM Ryan,
You could save yourself a ton of money and effort and just RallyCross it as is. Next RallyCross is 7-19-14, yes, this coming Saturday.
Just sayin'!
Rally On!, Avery

That's certainly an option in the interim Avery =p and who is to say I haven't considered it already?!
We will see how she behaves once the clutch is fixed, nothing is ever easy and I have a feeling I'm going to find other problems once the major one is fixed =)
