This blows....!!!!!
I finally get my trunk w/WRX wing from this guy in the mainland, after wainting for 3 weeks for him to send it. I get home, borrowed my friends truck because the box wouldn't fit in my car. I start taking the trunk out of the box and I'm all stoked I finally got it. I looks like it needs a quick polish, so I'm polishing the thing and WTF!!!! the edge of the trunk is bent. Apparently somewhere in the 5 stops it made around the US, some delivery guy dropped it's side. Ahhhh, I also told the sender to please, please wrap it up really good, because UPS drivers aren't the best handlers of packages. It had two cracked wooden things that suppossed support the sides of the trunk that were bent. (the pointy part of the trunk) and two bubble wraps jammed into the box and a piece of foam that looked as if it was just shoved into the box. So now I filed a damaged package complaint........got an e-mail saying that the package needs to be repacked, the UPS driver is going to pick it up and take it to the local office to be inspected, then sent back to the seller.
So guys and girls what happens next???? Do I get a new trunk or suck wind???
-Sorry for the vent post........was extremely PO'd after waiting so d**m long!!!
My exhaust and dp looks nice.........=), different seller<--------

Hope you didn't TRADE trunks and he has your's.
Yeah you're pretty much out of it unless someone is gonna pay to have it fixed and you keep that one.
Try doing a trunk swap with guys locally to avoid shipping.
ALSO...this goes to all the noobs...if anything ask us first about it so that we can give you tips/opinions ahead of time to alleviate this kind of mess.

well what you could do is keep the packing material and the damaged item. file a claim with UPS and see what happens. Find out for sure if the guy insured the package. If he did then you might be in luck. if he didn't you might me SOL

had similar problem when i ordered from ultimate.the middle of the box had a hole so big that i could put both my head and shoulders in it.luckily i had no missing parts and no damages.
I actually bought it from him as was going to sell my trunk after I installed it, so I guess I'm lucky in that point........but I hope I the guy put insurance on the trunk....we'll see what happens...

Here is my experience, even with insurance, UPS will determined if it was packed correctly. If it was, then the shipper must make a claim wth evidence of the price of the damaged object. UPS will not accept a new price for a used item. If it was not packed correctly, then they will not take responsibility. The shipper must file the claim, provide a price for the damage, and is reimbursed for damages. That is one reason that when I buy from a private party, I ask them to take the part to a shipping store and then I pay the store via CC to have it shipped (even though it is more expensive) and I get a reciept from the seller because then I am my own shipper and if there is a problem I do not need to deal with the seller who may have done the best that they knew how.
