Belt Tension?
This has been goin on for 3 days now. When ever i start my car up on a cold start i get a loud squeeking noise (At first i thought belts?), which lightens up in reverse and goes away once i put my car in 1st gear.
Every time i get out of my car, it's gone so it's very tough to pin point where the noise is coming from. When ever a turn my wheel all the way to the right or left i get a small chirp (power sterring pump?). This will not happen when the engine is started warm. I've tried search NASIOC and nothing came up, thanks.

then you probably don't have enough tension on them. unless you have a tensioning gauge then it's very hard to give you a number. The factory service manual doesn't even give you a number either.
I believe you should have about 1/2" to 1" of play by pushing down on it. Make sure you tighten the retaining bolt for the adjuster other wise when your car moves it'll loosen. another good clue as to how much tension you should ahve is to look at the screw that moves when you adjust the how tight or loose the belt will be. The area that it needs to be set to about should be shiny and not oxidized.
hope this helps

to much tension will result in premature aging of parts such as the power steering pump and premature belt wear. To little will result in what you're experiencing. The squealing is the belt not moving or intermittently moving. have you check your car with the ac on or off? if the ac is on when checking and you changed that belt to then you might be adjusting the wrong belt. you want to adjust the belt for the ac side until the squealing goes away and then back off 1/4 turn.

I wouldn't give it a whole inch of tension cause once you put a brand new belt on and start driving around they will stretch a tiny bit. I always make mine super tight where it barely has any play at all and I've never used a guage and I've never had my belts squeek prematurly.

Wel then ther's your problem...tighten it ...super tight this time...and you should be good to go and if it stretched it too much and you can't tighten it enough just buy another one...thank god belts are so cheap
