Battery issue

I have a question there are two wires coming from the battery on the +positive side, one about 4 gauge(bigger one) the other about 8 gauge(smaller one). The bigger one seems to come from behind the engine and is kind of short. Is there a way to modify this? by maybe extending the the wire(by Putting a fuse on it or an adding some kind of splice or connector to this) or is it accessible enough just to replace it with a new wire. The reason I'm asking this is I have recently change to a yellow top and have added a new terminal that required to have the wire closer to the battery and seems to be short about an inch or two (it is stretched to reach the terminal, not good might pop off one day).

Any help would be great. Thanks Kalani

Not hard at all you need a wire long enough with 2 ring terminals I just unhooked my factory one from both ends and left it tapes up and ran my other wire with it and hooked it up easy as pie

OR you can pull that short wire off of the clip that is holding it down...that way you can run a Yellow Top...trust me, I had a yellow top as well and had to do it.

Just follow the wire until you hit the clip.
