High-Speed Amphibious Car Unveiled
September 3, 2003 — The world's newest luxury sports car was shown off on the water.
The Aquada is the world's first high-speed amphibious car. The convertible goes up to 100 miles an hour on the road. Once the Aquada reaches water, the wheels retract, and the car becomes a boat. Jet propulsion allows the Aquada to travel 30 miles an hour in the water.
There are no doors, to avoid leaks.
The British firm Gibbs Technologies plans to sell one hundred Aquadas later this year.
The sticker price: 235-thousand dollars.
