You've heard of air guitar and air kisses; well now prepare yourself for the astonishingly entertaining Airzooka. Physics really isn't our strong point, but for some unfathomable scientific reason this amazing fun gun is capable of blasting a 'ball' of air at unsuspecting victims up to 20 ft away! No, we don't really understand how either, but believe us, Airzooka is a total blast.

Actually it would be a "column of air" techinically. The AirKooza, as it seems, utilizes the fact that air actually responds to the physics of fluid dynamics. Air is a fluid believe it or not, so just like you can send a small amount of fluid very far very fast by pushing it through a small hole you can do the same with air. Essentially you are accelerating a column of air inside the AirKooza and as it tapers down the barrell it accelerates th e air forcing all of the air in front of it ahead through a smaller area (kind of like a hose nozzle). By a certain distance it will dissipate but because of its "seemingly" large volume it would appear to take some time for the initial force to drop to the point to which you wouldn't be able to feel it anymore.
Never actually used one, read anything about it or seen it in person. Just my thoughts...
Welcome to the world of physics guys.

Wow. I really should have studied more in school.
Thanks for the layman's breakdown. I was wondering how that thing worked!

The noise that you hear is lost energy. Everything that moves or does work loses some amount of energy to frictional forces which result in heat or sound. In the case of the AirKooza the friction between the moving air and the plastic inner tube causes noise instead of heat from lost energy. A measurable amount of heat energy would require either a very large object or a high rate of speed... like the space shuttle renetering (air, as a fluid with extremely low density, has a small friction coefficent).

The Airzooka air gun toy is what is known as
a 'Vortex generator'
A Vortex is a bunch of air or water that is swirling around itself. Tornadoes, smoke rings, and whirlpools are good examples.
When air is forced out of the front of the Airzooka air gun, some air hits the edges of the hole and slows down. This slower air is then pulled forward by the faster moving air in the center and starts swirling around itself in a ring.
The vortex can travel a long distance before breaking up, and you can actually feel a strong blast of air when it hits you! Vortex concepts were originally discovered and written about by Viktor Schauberger.
