Hello all,

Just wondering if fellow 2011 wrx owners are experiencing some squeaks while driving, mainly on bumpy roads. Its a cute sounding squeak but gets irritating knowing its a new car any help would be great.

Squeaks from brakes sometimes but my major concern is the rattle coming from the driver side dash

 

Are the brake squeaks normal because i honestly dont know the source of this squeaking. My car even gave a squeak when i closed my trunk with the car off .

 

I don't have any squeaks, but I have lots and lots of rattles. Doors, hatch area, steering column, etc.

 

I have this squeak you speak of. It comes from somewhere in the front-bumper. Do you have those front license plate mounter thingys? If so, that may be the source. i tried loosing mine and it sort of made the sound go away. But its still there if I push down on the bumper. So in actuality, it maybe the front bumper rubbing against something. And this point I can't be bothered to pursue it any further.

I've been living with it for exactly 367 days so far, maybe you'll get used to it too?

 

Yea i got a a lot of rattles for sure!
Its like playing wack-a-mole sometimes to try and find it in the dashboard while driving.

The squeak, I don't have that one specifically, but I did notice on hard left turns, (not full) maybe 60% or more I have a squeak in the front somewhere. Took it to autox this weekend, now i don't have it (that i've heard yet).
Go figure.
So my lesson learned when it squeaks, drive the hell out of it until it goes away.

 

FYI for the truck there are a few common places that "squeak". the license plate. & also in the storage compartment since it 2 foam pieces that rub together.

 

ive lost count of the sqeaks, rattles, rumbles and shakes... i just roll down the windows and turn the music up lol. fact of life with these cars is all the panels will inevitably squeak against foam, each other, on a dry day, when it's 2:30 in the afternoon, if it's humid, in the third phase of the moon, and mostly when it'll annoy you haha

 

Yea i think i found the source, i do have those totsubo front licence brackets and sure enough when i pushed down on them the squeaks came alive. Cheers to totsubo and a front bumper that squeaks together

 

if i put the totsubo u may wanna loosen it up a little like joey said. i put them in good cause i dont want it to come off lol

 

Damn, how funny that Subies still have all those annoying sounds 'till this day, they've been like that forever. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru i guess lmao. Mine's had them since the first day i bought it & hasn't subsided ever since. I'm glad my exhaust is super loud & i just usually turn up the music so i can't hear it as much. I'm used to it all now, you gotta expect that coming from a street rally car.
