Also, could be the steering wheel for the actual airbag as well. Be careful when taking it all apart, as you don't want to trigger the bag.
Otherwise, take it in to service.

did you buy the car new or used? the airbag connector is a tricky one. if you bought the car new i'd take it in if you didn't do many electrical modifications to your car. If it's used then possibly the previous owner might have removed the difficult connector and replaced it with less secure connectors causing your airbag light to trigger when it can't verify the continuity of the bag being there.
if you're going to venture there yourself... i'd disconnect the negative side of the battery first before tinkering.

the car is 100% bone stock down to the stereo. i bought the car used with only 17000 miles on it so maybe it could have been previous owner. think i will get in this weekend and check it out. thanks for the help, still on my way learning about electrical systems.

ok i dont know abotu other years, but this is what happend to me
airbag light kept coming on and off, didnt knwo what was up. took it in to the stealership
i dont know about the 04-05 but the 06-07 has a clock in the dash and it tells you if the pass. airbag is on or off based on weight
that clock and sensor is what was messing my airbag up. so they replaced it and it hasnt done it again since then

If you know somebody who has an AP, they can check the code for you. At least you'll know what it is. But like others have said, SRS are safety issues and cannot be ignored.

Mines was turning on and off because some crap in my car (Camera, tripod, tshirts, hats, cd's etc.) were getting stuffed under the passenger seat and messing with the connection. Once I cleaned up the car it turned off and hasn't turned on since.

my bag light came on a few months ago and i went under both my seats and squeezed the connections togther. light came off. sometimes it looks like its connected but its best to squeeze dat faka
