I really want to swap out this dang slush box in the Legacy for a 5MT. I don't want to blow alot of cash. I had found just the tranny for cheap, from WRX but would need to pick up the rest, including rear dif and axels, mounts, etc. etc.

I've only been in HI for a year, don't really know about any U-pull or junkyards, anybody wanna clue me in, help me out with getting the parts, the whole thing is just fuzzy to me.

I know Vakamon will do the whole job for $850, but i would still need to get all the parts.

At this point i'm debating getting the WRX tranny or finding something that will go directly in. My rear dif is a 3.900 LSD so it's not a bad piece. As far as flywheel and clutch i would think it be a great time to go aftermarket but, i'll see what i can get.


Suggestions?

 

i would say look for a 98-01 RS trans that will bolt right up. bit more solid than the wrx and should be cheaper too. if you can find an 01 that would be best but any will do. gl and i'll keep an ear out for parts. yo fran, get yo $hit back and get some money for it right here.

 

well if you are interested there is a guy that i know that can possibly sell you the tranny and any of the missing pieces less the wire harness, abs compressor, clutch master, ecu. he does have the peddle set, tranny, and i think the axles and hubs. i'll let him know and find out if he still has it
