I didnt know that you can take home a long gun same day? Maybe if you already have the permit as you can apply for the long gun permit good for 1 year if you did so at the same time you got your pistol. Then you have 3 days to register at HPD.

No one can carry a weapon except for military or law enforcement agents, mail carriers can, and by very special circumstances approved by court. I think its on the NRA forum under Hawaii. You also gotta take a class to get your license too, so you can go Magnum or Security shop, or Young Guns for class signups....

Magnum convenient for class and shooting as indoors and discount if you buy their weapons. They charge more, but you can shoot at their range with it later. Other than that, you gotta go Koko head or other range (if military).
