Repainting the car
I'm tired of all the rock chips and junk in my paint, so I am sanding off the clear coat, and paint in some places, and redoing it.
Does anyone know any little tips for spraying clear coat??
I'm god as far as base color, my only problems come up with the clear coat (I've painted a few times before)
Pics will be up soon

This is gonna take me a while. I keep getting side tracked by other things, like hanging curtains :-(.
I only have the drivers side sanded so far.
My car looks soo sad.
Ill take pics of the sadness tomorrow, lol.

The start of the sanding

And it continues for hours

My paint booth :-)

The start of covering the front acessories, engine bay, roof and trunk door

Hopefully primer will go on tomorrow, then I just hafta wait until I have enough money for paint :-(

just so you know, and i know its a little late, the wrb are notorious for chipping.
i have heard it termed "starry night" due to the white chips on a blue or black backround.
if i were you i would stay away from that ****ty *** subaru paint or you will just be repeating this scenario soon. or at least get a 3M coating after the paint cures

Soo, I've painted a few cars in the past, so I have a good idea of what I'm in for.
OMG the chipping was horrible. They were everywhere too, even my rear fenders.
As for color I am going to stay with blue.
Just to let you know you can't actually buy Subaru paint, except in little touch up pens, and I need atleast a gallon.
There is a place in San Leandro that can make the right color, and the clear coat they sell is uber durable.
Unfortunately I don't have money for paint and clear coat so the car is gonna stay primer grey for a while

LOL @ the primer. The color combination is quite...interesting. I wana learn to paint a car. The bumper and hood on my Civic have HORRIBLE rock chips, and they weren't even from me. The guy I bought it off of (sold it to me for $300, so I guess I can't complain) must have driven behind a lot of trucks...

Painting isn't really that hard, but it is time consuming, and, like any job, you need the proper tools. A decent paint gun, tons of sandpaper, a well ventilated paint booth, and a good respirator.
Then you just have to take your time doing it.
If you're going to try doing it and need help, I can walk you thru the whole process. Just a warning tho, prep time alone on my car was around 15 hours and materials are not cheap. My paint gun was around $200 and its just a mid performance one.

$200 on a paint gun? Yikes, I don't exactly have that kind of cash, lol. Thanks anyway for the offer though, and if in case I ever DO need help, I'll definitely come to you first =)

lol, yeah $200 for a paint gun it a lotta money, but I was quoted $4500 for a shop to do the paint job. Should only cost me another $410 for paint and maybe $50 for tape and plastic tarps.
