Heat Shield? Are you thinking about the hot air in the engine bay finding its way to the fender wells? Not sure if that could happen but you could easily seal the holes with something if your worried about it.

Car Info: 1993/2000/2001 GF4 mostly red

Assuming it didn't cause airflow losses I guess it would work in theory. Also, I'd want to run it off my A/C system rather than disposable butane or something. Looks like it takes refills in that can.
